1. CALL FOR ESPIONAGE ANTHOLOGY WRITERS

Crimson Gate Books is seeking original short stories for Secrets Worth Killing For: An Anthology of Espionage, Mayhem, and Betrayal, edited by Joe Goldberg and A.C. Frieden (Release date: May 2027)


We are looking for suspenseful, fast-paced tales involving spies, covert missions, dangerous secrets, and political intrigue. Contemporary, historical, and near-future settings are welcome. Selected authors will join an outstanding lineup of fiction writers.

2. CALL FOR CRIME FICTION AUTHORS WITH NEW MANUSCRIPTS

We are currently open to submissions of new, original manuscripts—either standalones or series—that meet the following criteria: 


  • It is crime fiction, mystery, suspense, or thriller, but not cozy mystery or paranormal. 
  • It is complete and between 50k-100k words (ideally 60k–75k words).
  • It has not been written, materially rewritten, or generated by an AI tool.
  • The author controls all rights to the manuscript.

3. SUBMISSIONS BY CRIME FICTION AUTHORS PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED BY DOWN & OUT, UNBOUND, AND POLIS

Were you previously published by Down & Out Books, Unbound, or Polis Books? 


Crimson Gate Books invites crime fiction authors to republish eligible works under new agreements. Many authors have already replatformed their books with us. Authors must hold valid rights-reversion letters for all submitted titles. 


Sign by December 31, 2026 to receive special terms, including market-leading royalties, rapid replatforming, refreshed covers, and clear marketing deliverables.
